The 24 x 36mm sensor supports an impressive native resolution of 12,288 x 8040. It allows for shallow depth of field, true anamorphic capture without cropping, and clean, detailed images across a wide range of formats. Whether you’re working in open gate or cropped Super 35, the PYXIS 12K maintains maximum image quality.

With 16 stops of dynamic range and dual-native ISO capability up to 25,600, it captures exceptional detail in both highlights and shadows, even in challenging lighting conditions.

Versatile Resolution and Frame Rate Options

The PYXIS 12K supports multiple frame sizes and frame rates without sacrificing sensor coverage. Shoot in 12K at up to 40 frames per second, 12K 2.4:1 at 60 fps, or 8K at up to 112 fps. A high frame rate (HFR) button on the body allows instant toggling without navigating through menus.

High Dynamic Range and Low-Noise Performance

Designed around a base ISO of 800, the PYXIS 12K offers ISO settings from 200 to 25,600. This makes it suitable for both controlled lighting and available light environments. The high dynamic range enables fine exposure control across bright outdoor scenes and low-light interiors simultaneously, retaining detail throughout.

Modular Rigging and Build Quality

Constructed from aerospace-grade aluminium, the PYXIS 12K is designed for professional rigging. It includes multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting threads for attaching to gimbals, drones, and cranes. Side plates are customisable, supporting accessories such as SSDs, microphones, and grips.

Included is a side plate with one 3/8"-16 and two 1/4"-20 threads, plus an SSD mounting plate. Additional accessories like a rosette plate are available separately for expanded mounting options.

Optional Pro Handle and Grip

The optional Pro Handle includes a daylight-visible OLED HD viewfinder, stereo microphone, and a zoom rocker with record control. The Pro Grip offers an ergonomic handheld solution with its own zoom rocker and record button, ideal for handheld or ENG-style shooting.

Onboard Monitoring and Controls

The built-in 4-inch touchscreen LCD offers full HD resolution with HDR support and a peak brightness of 1500 cd/m² for visibility in daylight. On-screen overlays provide tools like histograms, 3D LUTs, frame guides, and status indicators.

Physical controls include ISO, white balance, and shutter toggles, along with a scroll wheel for quick adjustments and three assignable function buttons. A control lock switch prevents accidental changes during filming.

Professional Recording Formats

The PYXIS 12K records in Blackmagic RAW, retaining full detail and allowing flexible adjustments in post. Real-time H.264 proxy recording is also supported, streamlining remote editing workflows. Files are compatible with major platforms including macOS, Windows, CUDA, Apple Metal, and OpenCL.

Dual Media Recording and Expansion

Two CFexpress Type-B slots provide reliable internal recording. The USB-C expansion port supports external SSDs or flash drives for longer takes and backup. A 256GB CFexpress card can capture over an hour of 6K footage.

Live Cloud Integration and Streaming

Support for Blackmagic Cloud allows near real-time collaboration. Proxy files can be uploaded while shooting, giving editors access to footage without waiting for physical media.

Built-in SRT and RTMP streaming lets you broadcast live from set directly to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, or X. Pair with the ATEM Streaming Bridge for internal routing to a control room or studio.

Comprehensive Connectivity

At the front, the camera includes a USB-C port for the URSA Cine EVF and a mini 3-pin XLR audio input with +48V phantom power for microphone use. At the rear, there’s a 3.5mm mic input, headphone output, USB-C for storage or mobile connectivity, and a 12G-SDI port for external monitoring.

A Reference/Timecode input supports synchronisation with other cameras or audio gear. The RJ45 10G Ethernet port allows fast uploads and remote camera control over a network.

Flexible Power Options

Power the PYXIS 12K using the locking 2-pin DC connector or via a standard Sony BP-U battery. This dual option makes it suitable for both studio setups and portable field shooting.
